Painting
for me
is about making something out of nothing, creating a visibility for
something that
is completely my own. I am able to express aspects of my internal
world through creating images. Figurative painting and in particular
the portrait are like a stage for summoning and exploring what lies
beneath. The human image is a language in which everyone is well versed,
in interpreting and understanding
the subtlest of nuances.
It allows for direct communication and for ambiguity. I am interested
in how to find my own truth and who I am when there are so many ways
to escape or disguise it from ourselves and each other.
